The short version
My story
In 2004, I started a B2B software company focused on ecommerce for wholesale distributors. Over 20 years, I led it through rapid growth, multiple reinventions, economic downturns, team changes, and eventually a successful exit to a private equity-backed firm in 2023.
Along the way, I lived through every kind of chaos a founder can experience: constant firefighting, team misalignment, unclear ownership, shifting priorities, inconsistent execution. There were stretches where “if I stop for even a week, this whole thing falls apart” wasn’t just a feeling — it was reality.
After the exit, I looked back at what actually caused the chaos during those years. Not the surface-level fires, but the root causes. The pattern was consistent: every major problem traced back to one of three things — a lack of clarity around roles and ownership, a lack of consistent execution rhythm, or a lack of a clear long-term plan. That’s what became the Chaos-to-Clarity System.
